May was a busy and fun month for all of us here at St. Mary! From camp to our middle school visit we had a lot going on in 6th grade.
May 11-12 the 6th graders had their annual overnight camping trip at Camp Tekakwitha. The students had a great time there and had a chance to participate in a lot of fun activities!

We also took a field trip with the 5th graders to Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. We learned more about the solar system, took a solar system walk to understand how far away the planets are from each other, and even had the chance to made a model comet! The students had a great time on our field trip, and did a wonderful job representing St. Mary's School!
For our final Science unit we studied the solar system. In our final lesson students excavated fossils! They enjoyed being paleontologist, and loved finding and identifying their fossils. They found shark teeth, seashells, petrified wood, etc. The students did a wonderful job throughout this unit, and seemed to really enjoy learning about the different planets and how our solar system works!
We don't have many days of school left, but we have a lot of fun activities planed for the last few days! It's hard to believe the school year is almost over!
